When is the next RG Immersion?

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

This is probably the most common question about Redemption Groups I get: When is the next Immersion?

Understandable, because our Immersions have consistently been profound, life-changing experiences—not to mention being excellent equipping for future RG leaders.

I’d like to see Immersions happening so often all over the country (and the world) that there is always a quick, concrete answer to this most common question, a schedule of upcoming Immersions. In fact, we’re working on that behind the scenes—more to come.

In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at what’s going on that you might not have heard about. The Karis House Community Counseling Center will host an Immersion that begins this weekend (June 10, 2011) in St. Louis, MO. And Providence Church in Frisco, TX will be hosting one in July 2011.

We haven’t promoted these broadly because they have emerged primarily as opportunities to equip those who are in those church communities and their nearby networks. As such, they have been essentially sold out since planning began. However, we have been able to open some seats for others to travel in from all over. In time, we expect to do a lot more of this, partnering with other churches.

If you’d like to let us know that you and your team are interested in such opportunities as they arise in the future, let us know, and we’ll try to get you in! You can sign up on the Redemption Group Immersion Waiting List here.

Redemption Live: October 26, 2009

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

In this session, I walked through a chapter-by-chapter overview of Redemption, the book I’m writing for our Redemption Groups curriculum.

You can also download a written synopsis of the book here.

FAQ: What’s covered in the Redemption book?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

For a preview of what’s covered in the Redemption book being used by Redemption Groups, there are two places you can look.

First, in the document Redemption Groups Overview, there is five hundred word summary of the whole book in the section called “Redemption Group Theological Summary”.

Second, the document Redemption Book Synopsis, there is a chapter by chapter paragraph summary of the whole book.

Third, watch the October 26th, 2009 episode of Redemption Live, where I talked through the contents of the book and answered a few live questions from listeners.

FAQ: when will the book be out?

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

January 2011 from Crossway.

In the meantime, we are exploring how we might open a limited “beta” program to provide early access to the material for churches and organizations who would like to launch Redemption Groups using pre-released material, like we are doing already at Mars Hill Church. Please subscribe to the mailing list for updates (you can sign up on this web site), and stay tuned for more details.

  • How long is a single group session?
  • How long does a single group meet?
  • Do people repeat group attendance in subsequent quarters?
  • When will the Redemption book be out?
  • Is Community Group participation a prerequisite for RG participation?
  • Are members of other churches encouraged to attend Redemption Groups?
  • Are Redemption Groups an effective outreach tool?
  • Do we sign slips for court ordered attendance?
  • Are groups mixed with men and women?
  • Are Redemption Groups encouraged to get together outside regular group time?
  • Is group counseling biblical, or gathering around sin?
  • Do we promote that groups are for people with “big” issues?
  • What resources would you recommend to prepare leadership for Redemption Groups?
