Beta

Update: the Beta program is no longer available as of January 15th, 2011, since the core of the Redemption Group curriculum has been published by Crossway in the book Redemption, by Mike Wilkerson. This page has been retained as a record of the terms of use agreed upon by those who were previously approved for the beta program.

The Redemption Groups Beta Program exists to offer churches and organizations the opportunity to begin building their own Redemption Groups before the Redemption book is officially released in January 2011 from Crossway. Participating organizations will have access to partially complete, partially edited, pre-released copies of the Redemption manuscript in the form of a PDF file suitable for local printing and use as a group participant workbook (exactly what is already being used at Mars Hill Church and elsewhere).

Note: we can only accept a limited number organizations into the program at this time, due to time limitations.

Benefits to Participants

Each beta organization has the following benefits as a participant:

  • Access to pre-released, partially complete Redemption materials
  • Permission to make a hardcopy of the Redemption booklet, containing a partially complete manuscript, for each Redemption Group participant and leader. These could be made on an office printer, or sent to a local print shop for spiral-bound notebooks.
  • Occasional updates to the booklet as the manuscript is completed, to be delivered as a PDF document.
  • Consultation with Mars Hill Church pastors and other leaders experienced with Redemption Groups. This will take place primarily through online interaction at RedemptionGroups.com, including live video streaming with text chat Q&A. On a more limited basis, there will also be email and telephone support. (All consultation is on an as-available basis. Meaning, no guarantees.)

Requirements

In exchange for these benefits, beta organizations agree to provide feedback and testimonials.

Restrictions

Beta organizations have the following restrictions:

during evaluation, before implementation

  • evaluation copies of the Redemption book may be shared only with the select few (no more than five) people in an organization responsible for making a decision about whether to adopt the program
  • if, after evaluation, the organization chooses not to participate in the beta program, all electronic and hard copies of the Redemption book must be destroyed.

for those who go on to participate in the program and implement Redemption Groups

  • After evaluation of the Redemption book, the organization must request written permission to use the book as a beta participant, under the following restrictions.
  • Copyright and usage notices may not be altered
  • Administrators may not distribute the electronic copy of the Redemption book. They may not upload the PDF to any website, whether on the public internet nor on a password protected site. They may not email the PDF except for the purpose of delegating responsibility for the printing of the material, which may be a print shop.
  • In the first full quarter of Redemption Groups that the published Redemption book is available from Crossway (Jan 2011), the beta organization must use only the published materials, must destroy any electronic copies of the PDF, and must not distribute any more hardcopies of the pre-released material.
  • The beta organization may charge no more than necessary to recoup their cost of printing.
  • The beta organization may only distribute copies to individuals actually participating in a Redemption Group affiliated with the local organization or the local organizational leadership for evaluation. They may not distribute copies to anyone outside those individuals who are directly affiliated with the organization as active members, attenders, or participants.

Process

A limited number of organizations will be accepted into the beta program. After we receive and approve an application the organization will receive an evaluation copy of the Redemption PDF workbook. Based on that evaluation, the organization will proceed in one of the following ways:

  • Agree to begin the program and submit a rough implementation plan. Only organizations with implementation plans will be accepted into the beta. After the plan is accepted, written permission will be granted to make copies of the book for leaders and participants.
  • Decline the program and destroy any evaluation copies of the book, whether electronic or hardcopy.
